Consultations

…where we get to know you! Consultations include a thorough health history, review of systems, any orthopedic or neurological exams if clinically indicated, and individualized preventative health and wellness guidance. Consultations include first Chiropractic Adjustment.

Adjustments

Time to restore that nerve flow. Adjustments not only enable and allow your joints to move more freely, they also properly align your body which takes tension off of your nervous system allowing it to communicate “flow” more freely. When your nervous system is able to function properly, healing and restoration throughout the body can occur.

Extremities

Nerves aren’t just found in the spine and neck, your adjustments shouldn’t be either. Extremity adjustments can provide relief to areas such as shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles, and toes – improving nerve function, flow, healing, and range of motion. Optional extremity adjustments are included at no additional charge at The Well.

Active Release

Active Release Technique (ART) relieves tissue tension by removing adhesions that typically develop in tissue from overload or repetitive use. ART promotes blood circulation, improved flexibility, and releases nerves that are entrapped by muscles. Some of the issues that Active Release Technique can help with are: decreased range of motion, poor flexibility, overactive muscles, localized spasms, trigger points, and more.

Graston/IASTM

Graston/IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization) is a treatment that is most popularly used to mobilize scar tissue and adhesions found between the layer of skin and muscle tissue. A stainless steel tool and emollient is used to work over the problematic area for tissue release, increased blood flow, and healing. At The Well we use hypoallergenic, fragrance free emollient made in the USA that contains Shea Butter & Beeswax and is petroleum free, sulfate free, paraben free, preservative free, and 100% vegan.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy utilizes cups to create suction at a localized area to draw up underlying tissues. Interesting Fact: One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes ancient Egyptians using cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C. By lifting the tissue, cupping increases blood flow circulation, aids in lymph flow and helps prevent buildup, and has been reported to increase the release of nitric oxide which improves circulation.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology Taping is a therapeutic treatment that utilizes a specifically designed tape that when properly applied to specific regions lifts the skin and stabilizes surrounding tissues. Some benefits include increased lymphatic drainage, pain relief and support, reduced pain and inflammation, promoted post-surgical healing, optimized performance, and even injury prevention. At The Well we also offer Rock Tape’s widely popular “RockSauce” Fire and “Rocksauce” Ice to be applied directly to the tape to provide further relief.

Techniques

Thanks for being here! Keep reading below to read about the specific techniques I use. I look forward to serving you!

Diversified

Dr. Joshua here! I currently utilize the Diversified Technique. This technique is one of the most widely used types of Chiropractic manipulation/adjustment and is one of the most familiar to patients. Diversified entails a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust that usually results in cavitation of a joint (that pop sound).

I also like to take a very specific approach, especially when dealing with the cervical spine (neck). I’m not a big fan of extreme rotary movements (quick jerking/twist movement to the neck). I’m not a Chiropractor that chases the pop above all else. If a patient doesn’t seem to be too responsive to this technique (or doesn’t feel comfortable with typical neck adjustments), I like to bring in other techniques and modalities such as Activator, Active Release Technique, etc. to ensure the patient’s comfort and progression in their health goals and treatment plan are met.

Activator

Activator Method utilizes a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument. Instead of manipulating/adjusting with the hands, force is generated with the small tool (the activator) that delivers a lighter, but quicker thrust than can be done with hands.

I utilize this technique with patients who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis or severe rheumatoid arthritis, patients with hypermobility or other contraindications to manual adjustment, patients that are not comfortable with audible cavitations (pops), or patients that are not comfortable with manual neck adjustments (like my wife!). This technique has been proven to be safe and effective and has quickly made its way to the top of the list of popular and widely used techniques by Chiropractors.

ArthroStim

The ArthroStim Instrument is a handheld machine that aids in performing adjustments. This powerful tool delivers 12-14 incremental thrusts per second, making it much stronger and faster than a typical single thrust administered by a chiropractor. By dividing the energy of a single thrust into rapid successive inputs, the ArthroStim Instrument modulates the force your physician applies in treatment, but in a much more comfortable and effective manner.

Due to the repetitiveness of this instrument, the neurologic feedback of receptors is constant and ongoing throughout the treatment, allowing for an effective result of pain relief and healing.

ArthroStim can be used for the following:

Infants and young children

Individuals with acute or extreme pain

Particularly sensitive individuals

Individuals who dislike being “cracked”

Individuals who suffer from neck pain or back pain

Individuals who require adjustments to the extremities

Elderly individuals

Sensitive disc injuries

Pinched nerves

Acute injuries from auto accidents, falls or trauma

Repetitive stress injuries from desk or standing jobs
